My passion has become the subject of Dyslexia. About 20 years ago I attended the International Dyslexia Conference in Denver, CO. Ever since then, I have been trying to learn all I can on the subject. Over the last 37 years of teaching, I have noticed similarities among my students who struggle with reading.

Students with Dyslexia require multisensory techniques to become successful at reading. Though we don't test students for Dyslexia, we can observe their struggles and adapt our teaching practices to bring success. Multisensory techniques used with students who don't struggle with reading certainly won't hurt them. But not using multisensory techniques with those who would benefit, certainly will hurt those students who need it.
