District Music

 

On Thursday April, 18, the Arapahoe choir and band competed at District Music Contest. The choir started the day performing, “Hashivenu” and “We are the Voices.” The choir received a superior rating. The band also received a superior playing the songs “Forever Shining” and “Salvation is Created.” Soon after the Deja Blue, Arapahoe’s select choir, performed “And so it Goes” and “My Soul is a Witness”. They received a superior rating. Next the jazz band received an excellent rating playing “New York State of Mind” and “Turning up the Heat.”

After a break the choir solos were performed. Triston Abraham received a excellent, followed by Keziah Goshert, who received an excellent, Olivia Leising, who received an excellent, and Alex Roush who also received an excellent. The band solos followed starting with Chloe Carlson, who received a superior rating, Diana Hanzlick, who received a…., Olivia Leising, who received a superior rating, Desteny Miller, who received an excellent rating, Mariah Watson, who received a superior rating, and Maggie Weatherwax, who received a…..

Throughout the day, a few ensambles, both choir and band, performed starting with the Low Brass Ensemble, which received a superior rating, the Trumpet Duet, which received a superior rating, the Girls Ensemble, which received an excellent rating, the Flute Duet, which received an excellent rating, a duet between John Lee and Colton Hearn, and finally the Men’s Ensemble, which received a superior rating.
