Warriors Finish First Week of Practice

Fall sports practices are underway here at Arapahoe, and the Warriors have been working hard to prepare for upcoming games.

The football team started the week bright and early with two-a-days, and worked hard through the blistering heat of afternoon practices. Coach Dustin Kronhofman said, "We had a great 1st week of practice. We practiced with energy and enthusiasm each day. Although we don't have a lot of kids out, the ones we do have out I totally trust that they will give it their all for their teammates." The football team opens up the season with a home game against Elwood, Friday August 30th at 7:00 p.m.

The volleyball team has plenty of returning talent, but will be switching some positions up a bit this year. Head Coach Katie Helms said, "The first week of practice went really well - we have a larger number of girls out this year, so we are seeing a lot of good competition for positions and the team as a whole is working hard and pushing each other. This season, we will see a lot of players take on roles that they haven’t before and I am looking forward to seeing how much we can grow and improve this year. With players taking on new roles, I think that leaves us a lot of room to get better each day." The volleyball team opens up the season with home games against Hitchcock County, Thursday August 29th, with JV starting at 5:00 p.m.

The cross country team has been running their hearts out all week, even though the weather has forced them to practice in different locations most days. Head Coach Marcia Foley is excited about the numbers for the season and said they live by the motto, "CONTROL WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL: INTEGRITY & CHARACTER & WORK ETHIC!" The cross country team opens up the season with a boys and girls varsity meet at the Benkelman Golf Course starting at 6 p.m.

The Warrior volleyball and football teams have scrimmages this week. Volleyball on Thursday, the 22nd, at 7:00 p.m, and football on Friday, the 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. All the teams hope to see everyone there!
