5th & 6th Grade Band has the “Coronavirus Band Challenge” to complete.  A copy was sent home in the packets.  There are 25 challenges to do.  They can do them in any order.  Some of them could be done at the same time, and many of them will double as practice time, also.

Have a parent/guardian sign each square as you complete the challenge.  Complete at least one challenge for each school day.  This will be your daily grade. You don’t have to complete them in order.  You have up to 3 weeks to complete this challenge.

In addition, prizes will be awarded for up to 2 traditional Bingos per student (5 across horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) and for a blackout (all boxes completed).

To turn your sheet in, you can take a picture of it and e-mail it to me or turn it in when we resume school or have a procedure established to return any paper homework.

Practice Sheets

You will also continue with your regular practice sheets.  Any time practicing or performing band challenges may also be counted toward your time on practice sheets.  You have a few options for keeping track of your practice sheets:

  1.  Use our usual paper practice sheets and take a picture of it or scan it and e-mail it to me each week.
  2. Enter the practice information into an e-mail and send it to me from a parent/guardian e-mail address.
  3. Use our usual paper practice sheets and keep them to turn in when we resume school or have a procedure established to return any paper homework.

Please note: Method 1 or 2 are preferred so that the don’t pile up for you and aren’t all coming in at once for me; the points for “used practice sheet instead of other paper” will not be docked in any situations; sending from a parent/guardian e-mail address will count as the parent signature.

Junior High Band has music bingo.  Since band alternates days with choir during 8th period, their assignments are combined.  The music bingo sheet is on the Jr. High music classes Google Classroom.  There are assignment slots there also detailing how to turn each assignment in along with any links or materials if they are needed.  You don’t have to do them in any order—you get to pick and choose which ones you want to do, just complete one per school day.  Ask your parents to sign each box on the paper copy as you complete them.

Practice Sheets

You will also continue with your regular practice sheets.  Any time practicing or performing for a music bingo assignment may also be counted toward your time on practice sheets.  Practice “A Childhood Hymn,” “Ancient Chinese Secret,” your solo or small group if you have one, and any pep band music.  You can also search Google for music to play!

Music Theory has assignments posted on Google Classroom.  Instructions for each assignment are posted in that assignment’s slot, and that is where to turn them in.
