School Safety Training

The Arapahoe Public School will be participating in a 2-day Emergency Operations Planning workshop on June 21st and 22nd. The workshop is sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Education and is intended to help schools create, modify, or update their Emergency Operations Plan. The training will assist schools to prevent, prepare, respond, and recover from a threat, hazard, or incident.

The recent analysis of school safety plans statewide indicated support was needed to ensure schools had a comprehensive, working, living document to guide schools and emergency responders before, during, and after an emergency incident or event.

It is necessary for schools, emergency responders, and law enforcement to plan together and build stronger relationships for responses to be protective of students and staff, respond efficiently, and to return the school back to a learning environment as quickly as possible.

The school’s Crisis Team members, administrators, an Arapahoe EMT member, and the Furnas County Sheriff’s Department will comprise the district’s EOP team for the training.
